Migraine and recurring headaches can affect every part of life: work, family, sleep, mood, energy and your ability to enjoy everyday things. For some people, headaches arrive during stressful periods. For others, migraine may be linked with hormones, tiredness, tension, digestion, weather changes, screen use or no obvious trigger at all.
At Beth Weightman Acupuncture, I offer gentle, traditional Five Element acupuncture from a peaceful clinic in North Wootton, near Wells, Somerset, supporting people who experience migraine, tension-type headaches, stress-related headaches and recurring head pain.
Book a free 15-minute consultation to talk through your symptoms and whether acupuncture may be suitable for you.
Acupuncture can be a positive choice for people who want a gentle, natural and whole-person approach to recurring headaches or migraine. It may be especially supportive when symptoms are linked with stress, tension, sleep, hormones or general wellbeing.
There is also recognised guidance and research around acupuncture for headaches and migraine. NICE recommends considering a course of up to 10 acupuncture sessions for chronic tension-type headaches, and The Migraine Trust notes that acupuncture may help some people prevent migraine attacks.
The British Acupuncture Council describes headache as one of the areas where acupuncture has been relatively well researched, including both migraine and tension-type headaches.
You may be considering acupuncture if you experience:
Migraine with or without aura
Recurring headaches
Tension-type headaches
Stress-related headaches
Neck and shoulder tension with headaches
Hormonal or menstrual migraine
Headaches linked with tiredness, poor sleep or burnout
Sensitivity to light, sound or nausea during migraine
A feeling of pressure, tightness or heaviness around the head
Headaches that keep returning despite lifestyle changes
Every person’s pattern is different, so treatment begins with a detailed conversation about your symptoms, health history, triggers, lifestyle and what is happening in your life more broadly. This helps me tailor treatment to you, rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach.
If migraine or recurring headaches are affecting your life, you are very welcome to get in touch. Whether your headaches are linked with stress, tension, hormones, poor sleep or no clear pattern at all, we can talk through what you are experiencing and explore whether acupuncture may be a helpful form of support for you.
I offer acupuncture from a calm, peaceful clinic in North Wootton, near Wells in Somerset. Appointments are tailored to you as an individual, taking into account not only your headaches or migraine symptoms, but also your wider health, lifestyle, energy, sleep and emotional wellbeing.
I also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation before booking. This gives you the chance to ask questions, explain your symptoms, talk through any concerns and get a feel for whether acupuncture is the right next step for you.
You do not need to know exactly what type of headache you have before getting in touch. If your headaches are new, severe, worsening or unusual for you, it is important to speak to your GP first. If you are already receiving medical care or taking medication, acupuncture can often be used alongside your existing treatment plan.
